HCG blog post.

Kia ora, Today I took the role of participating in cooking class. I would give myself a 10/10 for participation, effort and teamwork. Today I learned that we should plan all of our recipes the day before cooking simply to stay organized and because of that very reason today we didn't have most ingredients but a few for an amount of two recipes done. Our challenge was to find 3 cake recipes, 2 sponge recipes and 2 scone recipes. On top of that we had to find the method and equipment used for each recipe. I worked on my teamwork and communication in the process of cooking. I'm the type of person that prefers to work alone and still get the job done but this time it required  two or more people in a group. I tried picking easy recipes to follow because I wanted to go straight to cooking but if I did that it would count as not listening and I've surpassed that stage in life. The recipes that we picked were basic and simple recipes we could even make at home. The finish product in my opinion was really nice. All the flavours mixed in perfectly with the icing but I know I could have spiced up the way I presented it. Me and Khiara made sure to keep our station tidy in order too whoever wasn't doing anything between the two of us would go do the dishes and who was busy was to wipe down everything once they finished and dry the dishes. It was a pretty smart way in helping eachother out and a good way to make our teamwork a more dependable one. Next time I would like to be more organized hopefully and try spice up the way I present each dish. So now one of the recipes I would like to show you is the chocolate cake in a bowl with ingredients and the before and after results of the mixture.

I'm the Manaiakalani Secondary Specialist and I love coming across student blog posts and finding out what kind of learning is happening at your school.

It sounds as though you and your buddy had a great system and a really successful outcome. You seemed to get so much done in a short period of time.

Do you have to bring along your own ingredients or are they supplied?

I'm intrigued, did you make 3 cakes or did you have to choose only one? The photos look fabulous. Did you ice your cake afterwards?
