What is SNA?

Kia ora this blog is going to be about SNA. For the past three weeks we have been learning about what Sna is.  We have some questions that help us get a better understanding about what Sna is, Whos involved with it, How it impacts land owners and buyers. They may make it sound like its a good deed for the communities or it helps in some way but in my opinion I think that it makes people really poor and people waste their money and time on land they buy if its marked as SNA. Anyways  I hope you leave with some sort of idea or facts about SNA.

Question One: What is SNA?

SNA stands for SIGNIFICANT NATURAL AREA. Its something that you can't touch because there's a natural resources on that land.  So even though you own land that you brought, if the government says its a sna then you cant play on it touch it dig near it or build anything on it because the goverment said.

Question two: What are some specific rules to do with SNA?

  • You can't dig anything up near the natural area.
  • You can't build anything on or near a significant area.
  • If you find any gold on your land the ownership automatically goes to the goverment.

Question three: Interesting facts I found out about SNA.

  • 1991 Someone dug up a cemetery in paora because it had enough sand to ship over to mission bay.
  • If you want to build or deforest on your land you need to get permission and pay a sum of money to the SNA people.

So this is as far as I got with researching and discussing about in classes. To be very honest, I've had three teachers tell me about SNA and their success. First one My OG teacher ( Whaea Liv), She gives us a clear understanding about SNA and the one that gave us the questions. The second teacher that was in the army gave us a really great definition of what SNA is, Who created it, if it was bad or if it was good, Some of the perks to do with SNA and interesting things about the people that run SNA. Our third teacher ( Whaea Edith) she gave us a basic understanding on what people are doing nowadays with SNA.

Kia ora and that is all I've got to say.
