 Newspaper Article

Summary of the text (4 sentences)

This text is about a large group of privileged people who attended a party during lockdown. breaking the law, endangering themselves, their surroundings and most definitely their families. There were alot of high paid people there under the influence doing the most embarrassing things. Caught on camera going viral for the whole world to see and for the whole world to know why we are in lockdown.

A key idea/message in the text

This article made me realize that over 50 people attended a party that soon later didn't realize it would affect New Zealand. The people that attended the party didn't realize how big their actions would affect New Zealand's situations dealing with covid. Personally I find it really frustrating that people think they can go off and disobey the law like this. If more than 50 people attended this event all 50-70 people come from households that hold 5 people each. When they go home that night with covid it spreads faster then we want it too. We are trying to reduce the amount of covid cases for the better of freedom but if you keep throwing parties for everyone to attend to invading each other's personal bubbles then you’re going to increase covid to the point were our personal bubble limit will go down to three people in a household, online shopping and many more at this rate. People love meeting new people, getting out more, enjoying life and all its specialties with it.  I think the actions of these people were selfish and childish. Them knowing the law not to increase the cases would be pretty silly if you ask me.

Something the text made me think about/realise/appreciate/rethink my understanding of etc…

This text helped me see that with our actions we keep doing to put New zealand into danger like this at this rate we won’t be able to get the freedom we once had. This article made me rethink a lot of things I've been taking advantage of for the past few years of my life. With the amount of time we have left before we go into isolation made me wanna cherish every person that's important to me every last bit because I don’t know how much time I would have to spend with them. But these people that attended that party would be regretting everything they’ve done. Mainly just being there. The time spent there they could have spent with their family in their bubble bonding and having a good time at home. I understand what they felt once they realized how big this would have become in a way. It’s Anger and regret you feel when you make a really big mistake that can affect your loved ones in a way you don’t want them to feel towards you. When I make a mistake there's going to be that feeling deep down were you really regret everything you did. But behind every mistake there's always a lesson behind it. As long as you

know what you did was bad, accept the consequences and learn from it; that's all part of learning.
